Catering Tips - Make Sure Your Caterer is Local
0
January 8th, 2008Food and DrinksI know, it’s a strange business. There are times in your life that you will use a caterer once, maybe never, or maybe you use them allot for entertaining, or corporate events. No matter what the nature of your need is, you will be at the mercy of what they tell you. I have witnessed some very interesting scenarios and the one question I am always asked is, do you have a license to do business?
This should be your very first question and ask for proof, look at the document; right before you ask to come and meet them at their place of business. It is very often that you will find they are legal, and have the proper licensing in place. You must be your own investigator.
On the other hand, I have heard horror stories of people cooking in their personal home kitchens, with cats on the counters, backed up kitchen sinks, or barely working refrigeration. The best way to make sure…. See for yourself. Ask to taste some samples, because if you are ordering food for a wedding or a company meeting, the last thing you want is a terrible meal. How do you explain that to your boss, or your wedding guests?
A good caterer will be more than willing to share their goods with you, show you their place of business, and help you in all aspects of planning your event, no matter how many people or genre.
This is what we do at Bistro Catering and Bar-b-que. From the minute you sit down to taste sample menu items, to the last detail of your wedding reception, we make sure your very special day is one you will never forget. We spare no expense or amount of time, making sure you and your guests are satisfied with their dining experience. That’s a promise!
Remember to ask questions, check for licenses, and taste the goods. You wouldn’t buy a car if you couldn’t drive it first would you?
